Job Description

Expand business base with the US Military and other US Government key clients through integrated sales and value added services by facilitating business development efforts through COMOPS and 'One-Time-Only' (OTO) participation that aim to increase market share and profitability. Manage key client relationships and enhance transparency and accountability by facilitating MLL's efforts to migrate sales management through Insight or other customer relation management (CRM) tool instigated within Maersk Line. Provide Sales and Marketing support for all US Government business to foster the highest levels of service delivery and key client satisfaction and effectively demonstrate and maximize the value of the US Flag. Works with the Global Contract Execution Team to ensure MLL fulfills its contractual requirements with respect to operational and administrative performance as contained within the Flag Preference contracts. Is responsible to execute business development strategies within the US Flag Transportation unit that are aimed to increase market share and maximize revenue potential. Perform key process mapping activities to support the creation of new solutions for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Contract Management: Capture and develop new business for USC-6 option year(s)
    • Collaborate with GCE on the "One Time Offer" (OTO) system, and spot opportunities for US Military business to boost additional volume and revenue growth; actively measure success within this market, US Flag Service Delivery, Execution, and Business Development
  • US Flag Service Delivery, Execution, and Business Development
    • Serve as regular liaison between the CRC, MLL, GCE and other global stakeholders managing USM business to maintain Alpha status with US TRANSCOM, addressing all immediate service delivery failures involving US Flag segments with active customer engagement
    • Actively participate in the Development, via proposal development for tenders, and Service Delivery of unique cargo contracts (eg. Exercises, Unit Moves and OTO's) for US Military and other Government key clients
    • Oversight of NDN operations and other VAS/strategies as well as vendor management to pursue barriers to enhance Market share (E.g. KICY, GPS/AMU)
    • Provide "day -to-day" clarifications/updates on queries relating to global US Military shipments, as raised by internal and external customers and associates
    • Liaise with SDDC and GCE on Contractual Issues relating to Carrier Performance, to foster highest levels of Service Delivery and Key Client satisfaction.
  • Define, validate, and approve NAPS (Named Account Products) to ensure visibility for specific corridors and direct resource centers to acceptance of cargoes not accounted for in NAPS. Ensure MePC updated to reflect awarded MOD's and OTO's
  • Collaborate on new and ongoing SOPs with Maersk Line as required to facilitate service delivery and key activities with the aim of continuously ensuring best practice prevails within Maersk that drive down costs and enhance profitability
    • Process mapping, standardization and enhancement (e.g. OTO's, Sea/Air, Reporting)
  • Develops and regularly measures Key Performance Indicators for distribution within the organization to ensure compliance to unique customer requirements, volume/revenue targets are exceeded, and unnecessary costs are eliminated to maximize profitability for the Line
  • Provides analytical support to each of the U.S. government liner segments
  • Provide inside-sales support for DLA and Prime Vendor programs
  • Coordinate ad-hoc reporting as required as well as regular Top 20 Import Corridor Evaluation
  • Marketing Assistance
    • Develop and update MLL presentations and marketing/sales material in conjunction with marketing team
    • Develop and update other marketing collateral (tearsheets, customer corner, promo items)
  • Project management: Works on various ad-hoc projects to bring extraordinary value to the company. Such projects include the rollout, prime vendor logic, and other multi stage projects
  • Supports company commitment to ISO 9001, 14001, 50001 and OHSAS 18001 certification
  • Performs other position related duties as specified by management

Position Specifications:

Education and Experience
  • Must possess 3-5 years of experience in line management, sales, or customer service; preferably with US Government focus
  • College Degree Required
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining a security clearance from the Defense Security Service (DSS)
Technical Skills and Competencies Required
  • Must have demonstrated management capability with strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of Maersk systems required: CODS, RKEM, GSIS, GCSS, MARS, MEPC, WEBI, Business Objects
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems is an advantage

Travel Requirements: As Needed
General office setting, typically the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work, usually at a computer terminal - with short breaks or lunch period. However, there may be some bending/stooping, reaching above shoulder level, walking; standing; carrying of light items such as papers, books or packages of up to 25 pounds. Should be able to hear & speak clearly using phone / headset to communicate with customers; be able to navigate, view & enter information on the computer.
